The thing about being a fan of The Blue Nile is you have to be patient. The gap between their masterpiece Hats and their third album was seven years (and then eight more until their most recent). But two years after Hats, Paul Buchanan lent his voice to this beautiful song. Nobody does yearning better than Buchanan, and the ache in his voice is perfect for Robertson’s beautiful and depressing Valentine’s Day song.
